Yin Yoga, being part of the original Hatha Yoga tradition, is a modern incarnation combining the influences of Indian Yoga with Chinese Daoist practices and Western science. The meditative practice of remaining still in a posture for longer periods (three to five minutes) without an agenda of manipulation influences the deep sustainable effects of yin. With a yin intention, the focus is the connective tissue (fascial system) enwrapping muscles, joints and bone. Yin yoga mobilizes and strengthens our joints, ligaments and deep fascial networks.

This six week series will progressively shift our awareness from Winter to Spring. Coming out of our sweet slumber and into our rhythmic cadence, we will transition through this shift within ourselves and continue to hold an easy space for each other. As always, staying close to the yin and Daoist’s principles, we keep the practice low to the ground, slow and marinating-like as postures and shapes are held 3-5 minutes. This series, a bit different than the others, we gently bring in the supportive yang postures to help stabilize and encourage rhythmical dynamic movement. This is the natural movement of winter into spring. Emphasis on the Liver/Gallbladder meridian pair is also prevalent as the season transitions. We continue with soft reminders of the physical practice and the influence of the connective tissue/fascial patterning and the neuroscience behind (mindfulness) meditation.
Each class is 1.5 hours long and the classes run for 6 weeks. Pre-registered classes for $85 for the full 6 weeks.
Please e-mail or call Stephanie to register as class size is limited. Please let Stephanie know if you would prefer the evening or morning classes.
Looking forward to sharing the practice with you on the mat: I will see you there!

"The practice of yoga the Yin way is a passive practice involving variations of seated and supine postures typically held for 3 to 5 minutes and longer. The target tissue is the connective tissue that surrounds joints such as the knees, pelvis, sacrum and spine. This is an intentional practice towards the cultivation of deep self care, internal peacefulness and awakened being."
Classes beginning again this Fall starting September 15. Each class is 1.5 hours long and the classes run for 6 weeks.
